Neurotic webcomic creator Norman and his confident best friend Lulu wake up from an apparently-fatal car crash to discover that they’ve been transported to a fantasy world – a world that Norman quickly recognizes as his own creation. Trapped within the setting of his lighthearted (and maybe a little generic) fantasy webcomic series, Bellamy Briar and the World Of Sylvalia, things quickly go awry for the duo, and they are forced to work together to save, and change, the world.

In the near future, an Elon Musk-like CEO launches a luxury spaceship cruise to a corporate-branded distant planet. Four hundred years later the ship has still not reached its destination, and the spaceship's everyday-Joe backup technicians, Nikki, Mo, and Jess, are brought out of suspended animation into a world where they are revered as gods. Together, they must navigate the new responsibilities and old hangups around religion, and keep their religion’s Pope from having an existential crisis of his own.
